Boros Collection
Belonging to Christian and Karen Boros and housed in a bunker built in 1942, the Boroscollection consists of art created from 1990 onwards. Following WWII, the bunker served as a Red Army prison, a warehouse for fruit from Cuba and, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, as a techno club. The inaugural exhibition was in 2008. Visitors are invited to examine installations by Klara Lidén, paintings by Thomas Scheibitz, photographs by Wolfgang Tillmans, an installation by Tomás Saraceno and a six metre tree made of dead swamp wood by Ai Weiwei.
RIBOCA (Riga International Biennial of Contemporary Art)
The first edition of the Riga International Biennial of Contemporary Art (RIBOCA), titled Everything was Forever until it was No More, iscurated by art historian and curator Katerina Gregos. Inspired by the book of the same title by Alexei Yurchak, this edition will reflect on the process of change and how this is registered, anticipated, experienced, grasped, assimilated and dealt with at a time of rapid transformations. Including work by 104 artists and collectives (a third of which are from Baltic countries), the biennial will present 125 works including 56 new commissions and 10 public sculptures and ‘site-specific interventions.’ Our group will be led by AgniyaMirgorodskaya, founder of RIBOCA, MA in Art Business, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London.

Walking tour of Old Town Riga (Optional)
Sightseeing tour of Riga covering the Old Town, its Art Nouveau masterpieces, the city’s wooden houses, as well as many lesser known areas, buildings, and markets. Tour will be led by a local Riga resident.
